Caitlin Butts, from Oklahoma, began the evening with a great female country voice. She has a great sense of humor and peppers funny stories in between songs, a lot of which are about someone (probably a former lover/boyfriend or maybe her dad) who is a narcissist. She’s effortlessly charismatic, with humor that shines through into her songs. One moment her sweet as syrup voice is soaring over her guitar and the next she’s cracking jokes in between verses.

When Molly Tuttle took the stage, anyone who was expecting a night of exclusively bluegrass was immediately set straight. Given the nature of the music, I assume she released a new album and took it in a different direction. There were electric guitars and keyboards, and they used some effects on their instruments and played some rock and roll, but everything still had a bluegrass soul a a bluegrass joy for playing music. And there was plenty of the traditional fast, exuberant bluegrass that the people came for as well.

Molly herself was as impressive as she's always been. Incredibly skilled guitarist. Beautiful voice. So awe-inspiring to sing and play as fast as she does.

Molly is the main attraction obviously, but her band members are incredible in their own rights, with all of them playing multiple instruments throughout the show. The fiddle player strummed a mandolin during some songs and played the keys for a few more. The rhythm guitar players layed a steel guitar across their lap and plucked its strings. The bass player alternated between a stand up bass for the bluegrass songs and a bass guitar for the rock songs. Even the drum player stood up from the drums and strapped a washboard across their chest.

But back to Molly... She can strum and pick with insane accuracy and speed, and then she loses herself in the music and somehow hits another gear and plays even faster. To end the night she took her wig off and threw it into the crowd! So much confidence. Such a bad ass. Unabashedly herself.
